It seems like the stimulus meets biblical principles, as Obama talked about at length during his campaign. He often alluded to Matthew 25 (“Whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”). His agenda strives to stimulate the job market so that people can get back to work and more easily meet their basic needs, to provide health care for people who can’t afford it, and to give people the means to attain higher education. On the other hand, using government intervention to propel all of these actions means that faith-based nonprofits, and the Church, may not be needed as much in the future.
