You are not subject to any man’s judgement!

One of the hardest things about life is realising the number of times we are evaluated. From the time we are born and the doctor scores us on the Apgar scale of 0-10, ti the time we graduate with a file cabinet full of papers with grades on them and all through our lives, people judge us and tell us what they think of us. But God says that as a believer you are not subject to a person’s judgement. Why? Part of the reason is that most of the people who are trying to judge you will be attempting to evaluate you without the help of a renewed mind.

When you become a Christian, you are given a new mind which changes how you see the word around you and the people in it. That new mind has been rescued from spiritual darkness, and the lies that world suffers from no longer have the power to fool you. So when you do something according it makes no sense to those who do not have your new mind. They can’t judge you because they have blurred vision from the spiritual darkness that holds them captive.

Also you have someone living inside you to coach you so that your judgement is truer than it was before you met Jesus. That someone is the Holy Spirit. So you may see what is truly happening in the world and in your life, but others who do not have the help of God cannot understand what they see. Their judgement is faulty.

Knowing that God doesn’t think you may need to worry about their opinion should help you to let yourself off the hook when are criticised for doing what is right. God understands the thinking handicap they suffer from. And it also means that you can understand and love them, even while they are hostile. You know that they need help – Jesus’ help.

So next time sometimes judges you, remember – you are not subject to their judgement, and you can love them and pray for them because they can’t help being wrong right now.

The spiritual man makes judgements about all things, but he is not subject to any man’s judgement. 1 Corinthians 2:15
