Broken Cisterns…

Last Saturday, as soon as I turned on my bed the Holy Spirit whispered two very simple words to me: “Broken Cisterns”.

As usual, I searched the scriptures and this verse came up:

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:13

It seems like God wants to speak to His people.

He is saying that they have they have committed two evils. Some of God’s people have turned away from Him to do their own thing. They have turned their backs from the source of living water.

The scripture says in Psalm 27:1:

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The Lord is indeed light. The scripture goes on to say in 1 John 1:5:

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

God wants His people to honor Him, but instead we are turning to the fetes, parties, bad living, heartless behaviors and expensive costumes for Carnival. God wants His people to walk in the light and not darkness; He wants them to walk in His ways. Instead we choose the ways to lead to brokenness: We prefer to spend thousands of dollars in things which will perish and not buy a plate of food for a homeless person….And the list could go on.

Where is your heart today? To what have you turned to? What is broken in your life that brings no hope and you seem to can’t let it go?

Secondly, the word of God in Jeremiah 2 states that God’s people have not only turned away from Him but they have chosen to drink from the cup of the enemy which can hold no water.  None of these worldly things which I mentioned before can gain us anything.  The word said Jesus is the living water and when we drink from Him we will never thirst again. Nothing is broken in God because He is a whole God.

Sometimes we live broken lives; lives where no ends meet. We live unhappy and tormented lives and we never seek to consider the life in God which is full of joy, happiness, righteousness and peace in the Holy Ghost. We often choose unholy lives that will lead us to destruction. We give our lives to the enemy without realising that His way is a broad way which only leads to destruction.

God wants you to realise that there is life in Him and there is no destruction in Him.

For the word of God says: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Matthew 7:13)

Have your turned away?

Are you drinking from a broken cistern?

Do you want access to a well which never runs dry?

Do you want the way that leads to everlasting life in Christ?

  1. This post is a confirmation on what has been laid on my spirit as I SEEK GOD and to live for him in spirit and in truth.I was led to read from verse 1 in chapter 2 to 13 to get an even better understanding of verse 13..
Instead of relying on God to provide for them, His people rejected him and “dug their own cisterns”–in other words, they tried to meet their own needs without His help. But such efforts are futile; without God, humans can’t do anything to help themselves.
Many are doing the same to-day.God is seeking to give many the chance to turn away from the deception that has come to the church ,to repent and seek him and his kingdom in righteousness ,in spirit and in truth.

  2. Jesus , the greatest man that ever walked this earth with power and authority, who chose to die on the cross and in so doing defeated satan and the powers of darkness and left a legacy for who soever want to follow him, to embrace and to pass on that legacy, that lifestyle to others.Saul, later Paul, persecuted the early church but was blinded and when his sight returned he turned from being top persecutor to top Apostle and all he could do was teach ,preach on Jesus, and his resurrection and on helping the church stay in divine order. What is the message of the church to-day ? Who do many preach ? Who do many worship ? Who/what do many place emphasis on ? What importance is the message of the cross in to-day’s church ?Do many know Jesus ? do many know who they are in Christ ?The church of to-day needs to return to what the church in ACTS was like.We don’t need a church where many perform miracles, signs, wonders, prophesy but through demonic powers but we need to have the real gifts of the Holy Spirit operating in the lives of true men of God.Jesus ,and the message of salvation needs to be preached and souls need to be saved.
